Srinagar, July 22: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday reiterated his government’s longstanding demand for the restoration of statehood to J&K.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the NEP 2025 conference at SKICC, Abdullah stated, “We were the first to raise the demand for statehood. The resolution was passed in the Cabinet and brought to the Assembly.”

The Chief Minister’s remarks come amid renewed political discourse around the region’s constitutional status, with various stakeholders urging the Centre to expedite the process of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
