SRINAGAR: In a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir, thirteen candidates from the region have qualified the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2025. Notably, several among them are already serving in various government capacities, making this achievement even more commendable.
Among the top achievers is Iram Choudhary from Rajouri, who secured an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 40. Having previously qualified with a rank in the 800s, Choudhary’s remarkable improvement underscores her unwavering dedication to public service and consistent academic perseverance.
Another standout candidate is Aamir Bashir from Srinagar, who made a significant leap in his ranking this year. Currently serving in the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services (JKAS), Bashir’s success reflects a growing trend of regional officers aiming for and attaining positions in India’s top civil services.
The successful candidates hail from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, including engineering, medicine, and the humanities. Many have prior experience in administrative or public sector roles, which appears to have strengthened their preparation for one of the country’s most challenging examinations.
The UPSC Civil Services Examination is conducted in three phases—Preliminary, Mains, and Interview—and witnesses participation from hundreds of thousands of aspirants annually. The success of thirteen candidates from Jammu and Kashmir this year is being celebrated as a significant milestone and a source of inspiration for the region’s youth.
