SRINAGAR, May 12: A 19-year-old youth died in a tragic road accident on Monday evening in the Hutmurah Mattan area along KP Road in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The deceased has been identified as Saqib Muneer Faridi, son of Muneer Ahmad, a resident of Iqbal Abad, KP Road Anantnag. According to officials, Saqib was riding his scooty when he reportedly lost control and crashed into a road divider, sustaining grievous injuries.

He was initially taken to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Seer Hamdan, from where he was referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag. Given the critical nature of his injuries, he was subsequently shifted to SKIMS Soura, where he succumbed late in the evening.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated necessary legal proceedings.
