New Delhi: The Supreme Court is set to hear a petition on May 1, Thursday, seeking the establishment of a judicial commission, led by a retired judge of the apex court, to probe the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that left 26 tourists dead.
The plea, filed by three residents of the Union Territory — Fatesh Kumar Shahu, Mohammad Junaid, and Vicky Kumar — also calls for the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to ensure a thorough and transparent inquiry into the incident and accountability of the concerned authorities.
The petitioners have further requested the court to direct the Centre, the Jammu and Kashmir administration, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to formulate a comprehensive action plan to enhance security measures in tourist destinations across the Union Territory.
