SRINAGAR: The government has approved the ₹3.5 crore Cethroo Fencing Project under the 2025–26 Capex Budget, but its execution remains stalled as the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department has yet to issue tenders.

According to official sources, the Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA) has completed all formalities, and any further delay could leave the funds unutilized due to the approaching winter and snowfall.

Locals have urged authorities to expedite the tendering process to ensure timely implementation and prevent setbacks to ongoing development works in Sonamarg.

In recent months, the SDA has launched several projects to improve infrastructure and tourism facilities, including road upgrades, parking expansion, waste management improvements, and installation of signages and lighting—initiatives that have significantly enhanced the tourist experience in the resort town.
