BENGALURU, May 4 — Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s power-hitter Romario Shepherd credited his ability to read Khaleel Ahmed’s body language as the key to his game-changing knock in Saturday night’s IPL thriller against Chennai Super Kings.
Shepherd smashed an unbeaten 53 off just 14 deliveries, steering RCB to a narrow two-run win in a high-octane contest. His whirlwind knock equalled the second-fastest fifty in IPL history and proved decisive in the final overs.
“To be honest, I was more focused on the bowler and what he was trying to do,” Shepherd said at the post-match press conference. “When I hit the first two sixes, I knew I had him under pressure. I saw his body language—he looked confused—so I thought, ‘Let me put him under more pressure.’”
The West Indian all-rounder’s calculated aggression in the death overs turned the tide in RCB’s favour, showcasing not just brute power but also sharp match awareness.
The victory keeps RCB’s playoff hopes alive while adding to CSK’s late-season woes.
