Mendhar, Oct 2:
Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest and Tribal Affairs, J&K, Javed Rana on Thursday participated in a vibrant Tribal Mela at Sagra, Mendhar, celebrating the rich culture and heritage of tribal communities.
Addressing the gathering, Rana stressed that tribals deserve an integrative development approach—one that empowers without compromising their cultural legacy.
“Rooted in equality, tradition and ancestral wisdom, tribal values must be preserved as we progress. Development must honour, not replace, identity,” he said, underscoring the need to balance modernisation with cultural preservation.
The minister further underlined that the Omar Abdullah-led J&K Government is committed to inclusive, respectful and upward-looking tribal development, ensuring that the community’s aspirations are met while safeguarding their traditions.
The mela witnessed enthusiastic participation from locals and tribal communities, showcasing folk music, traditional crafts and cultural performances that reflected the community’s deep-rooted heritage.
