SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court has modified the bail conditions of PDP leader and Pulwama MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, allowing him to travel across India after four years of being restricted to the Union Territory. The decision, delivered by Justices Vinod Chatterji Koul and Sanjeev Kumar on December 2, 2025, requires Para to inform the trial court of his location and purpose of travel.
Para was granted bail in May 2022 in a terror conspiracy case after being arrested by the National Investigation Agency in November 2020. His previous bail conditions included surrendering his passport and seeking court permission for travel outside Jammu and Kashmir.
Despite opposition from the State Investigation Agency citing trial supervision concerns, the High Court eased restrictions, noting Para’s official duties as an MLA often require travel. The court emphasized that this modification balances judicial oversight with his legislative responsibilities.
The PDP has maintained that Para’s arrest was politically motivated. Since his release, Para has complied with all bail conditions, and the court had earlier described the prosecution’s evidence as “sketchy.”
