Jammu & Kashmir | July 30, 2025:The annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra was suspended today from both the Pahalgam and Baltal base camps following continuous heavy rainfall since the early morning hours. Authorities cited safety concerns due to slippery tracks, landslide threats, and poor visibility along the pilgrimage route.

The Jammu and Kashmir Department of Information and Public Relations (I&PR) confirmed the suspension, emphasizing that the decision was taken to ensure the safety of the pilgrims, security personnel, and service providers involved in the yatra.

So far, over 3.93 lakh pilgrims have successfully performed darshan at the revered Holy Cave Shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas since the commencement of the yatra earlier this month. Despite the temporary halt, officials remain optimistic about resuming the pilgrimage once weather conditions improve and the route is deemed safe for travel.

Meteorological authorities have forecast more rain in the coming days, and yatris have been advised to stay updated with official bulletins and avoid traveling without confirmation from authorities. The Amarnath Yatra, spanning nearly two months, is one of the most significant annual religious events in India, attracting devotees from across the country.
