SRINAGAR, Oct 19: The Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) has accused the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government of failing to deliver on its promises during its first year in power.

AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said the government’s inability to restore statehood, address administrative lapses, and fulfil welfare commitments has exposed its inefficiency. “Omar Abdullah himself has admitted his government’s failure to deliver on governance and political promises,” Nabi stated.

He cited delays in implementing the free electricity scheme, distributing free ration and LPG cylinders, and regularising daily wagers and contractual employees as examples of administrative apathy.

On the political front, Nabi criticised the government’s silence over the continued detention of political leaders, including MP Engineer Rashid and MLA Mehraj Malik.

“The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve transparent governance and restoration of political rights. Omar Abdullah’s first year reflects a government detached from public welfare,” Nabi said.
