Bandipora, June 21: Security forces on Saturday arrested an Over Ground Worker (OGW) affiliated with a terrorist outfit and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession in the Ketsun Binlipora area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, officials said.
The arrest was made during a routine checking operation carried out jointly by the 27 Assam Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police. The accused has been identified as 48-year-old Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Halmatpora in the Aloosa area of Bandipora.During the search, security personnel recovered a Chinese-made grenade and 11 live rounds of an AK-47 rifle from the suspect.
A formal case has been registered at Police Station Bandipora under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is currently underway, officials added.
