Srinagar, June 14 — A relentless heatwave continues to grip Jammu and Kashmir, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue a series of alerts through June 19. The prevailing weather pattern is marked by soaring temperatures, dry conditions, and gusty winds.

An ‘orange alert’—indicating severe heatwave conditions—has been issued for Saturday, June 15, while ‘yellow alerts’ remain in effect for June 15, 16, 18, and 19, suggesting persistent heat-related discomfort.

According to the MeT Department, hot and dry weather will dominate across the region over the next several days, with daytime temperatures expected to remain significantly above normal levels. A brief respite may be expected on June 17, which is forecast to bring relatively milder conditions.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, including limiting outdoor exposure, staying well-hydrated, and avoiding physical exertion during peak daytime hours, especially vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those with health conditions.
