Bareilly, May 24 — Police on Saturday arrested two local residents for allegedly posting a video on social media containing “anti-national” slogans and threats.
According to Bithri Chainpur SHO Abhishek Kumar, the accused — identified as Irfan and Wajid Shah — uploaded a video on Instagram in which they were purportedly seen shouting “Pakistan Zindabad” and issuing threats to cut people’s tongues.
The duo has been booked under Section 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to public mischief, as well as relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act.
The arrests followed reports from concerned individuals who flagged the content to authorities. Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the act.
