NEW DELHI, May 9: In light of the ongoing military tensions between India and Pakistan, a senior official from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday expressed optimism that the situation would not spiral further.
“We should remain hopeful that the current situation does not escalate,” said Dammu Ravi, Secretary (Economic Relations) in the MEA. He made the remarks while responding to a question about the potential economic fallout of the conflict and the resilience required to withstand such geopolitical challenges.
Ravi was addressing an event organised by the Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI), which took place amid heightened tensions following recent military engagements between the two neighbouring countries.
The official’s comments come as the region watches closely for signs of either de-escalation or further confrontation.
