JAMMU, May 8: Panic gripped parts of Jammu late Thursday evening after sounds resembling blasts were heard near the city’s airport, which houses a strategic Indian Air Force station. The incident occurred around dusk, shortly before a sudden power outage plunged the area into darkness.

Officials said security forces detected the movement of suspected Pakistani drones in the vicinity of the high-security zone. While it remains unclear whether the airport itself was targeted, the presence of drones prompted immediate counter-measures.

Sources confirmed that the Indian anti-drone defense system was activated, and several drones were successfully brought down. Eyewitnesses reported seeing one drone crash outside the airport perimeter.

Authorities are maintaining a high alert in the area, and further investigations are underway to assess the threat and identify the source of the drone activity.
