Akhnoor, J&K, April 30: In an effort to combat the growing threat of drug addiction among youth, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) on Tuesday conducted an anti-drug awareness drive in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir.
The initiative was aimed at educating the public, especially young people, about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of staying drug-free. Addressing participants during the event, NCC officer Kanwar Singh said, “We conducted this awareness drive because, as we know, drugs lead to destruction. Addiction is hollowing out our society and nation.”
During the program, attendees were informed about the physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug abuse. The session also provided guidance on how individuals and families can protect themselves and their children from falling into the trap of addiction.
“We also discussed how those already affected can be rehabilitated, with help from various government institutions working to free people from addiction,” Singh added. He stressed the importance of community support in helping addicts recover and reintegrate into society.
The awareness drive included interactive sessions, distribution of informative pamphlets, and speeches by NCC cadets and volunteers. Organizers hoped the initiative would encourage people to take a firm stand against drug abuse and support those seeking to overcome addiction.
The event concluded with a pledge by participants to spread awareness and help build a drug-free community.
