Shopian, April 27:
In an intensified crackdown on terrorism following the deadly Pahalgam attack, security forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday demolished the house of an active terrorist, Adnan Shafi, in Shopian district.

According to police officials, Adnan Shafi, a resident of Wandina village in Zainapora tehsil, had joined a terrorist outfit a year ago. He is believed to be involved in the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives, including one Nepalese national, and left several others injured.

In a series of coordinated actions, authorities also demolished several other properties linked to individuals suspected of participating in the Pahalgam attack. In Bandipora district’s Naz Colony, the house of another suspected terrorist was razed. Similarly, in Shopian’s Chotipora village, a house belonging to a suspect involved in the assault was brought down.

Meanwhile, in Kulgam district’s Mutalhama village, the house of Zakir Ahmad Ganie — another terror suspect — was demolished. Officials said Ganie had been actively involved in terror-related activities since 2023.

On Friday, authorities had demolished the house of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Adil Thokar, also known as Adil Guree, from Guree village in the Bijbehara block of Anantnag district. Adil, who allegedly received terror training in Pakistan after illegally travelling there in 2018, is among the most wanted figures connected to the Pahalgam attack. A bounty of ₹20 lakh has been announced for information leading to his arrest. Two Pakistani nationals have also been declared most wanted in the case.

In a separate encounter on Friday, a Lashkar-e-Taiba associate, identified as Altaf Lalli, was killed in Bandipora district. Two policemen were injured during the exchange of fire in the Kulnar area of Ajas and are currently being treated at a nearby hospital. Officials confirmed that both are in stable condition.

The crackdown comes amid nationwide outrage following the brutal attack on tourists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam. The incident has triggered widespread protests and calls for stricter measures against Pakistan.

The Indian Army remains on high alert, conducting extensive search operations across Jammu and Kashmir to neutralize the terrorists involved in the attack.
