New Delhi/Srinagar, April 22:
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday expressed deep anguish over the terrorist attack on tourists in the Pahalgam area of south Kashmir, which left several people dead and others injured.

“Deeply anguished by the terrorist attacks on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir. My heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the Chief Minister said in a statement posted on social media.

The attack, which targeted a group of tourists visiting the scenic town in Anantnag district, has sparked widespread condemnation across the country. Security forces have launched a massive operation in the region to track down the perpetrators.

Gupta also urged authorities to ensure the safety of visitors and strengthen security measures in tourist hotspots. “Such acts of violence are an assault on peace and humanity. Kashmir has always been known for its hospitality—these incidents must not be allowed to tarnish that legacy,” she added.

The incident comes at a time when Kashmir is witnessing a steady revival of tourism, with thousands of visitors thronging popular destinations during the spring season.
