Srinagar, May 26: Omar Abdullah on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to 52 candidates selected under the SRO-43 and Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS), reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting deserving families on compassionate grounds.

During the appointment ceremony, the Chief Minister congratulated the selected candidates and extended his best wishes for their future responsibilities in public service. He expressed hope that the appointees would perform their duties with honesty, dedication, and a strong sense of integrity.

Speaking on the occasion, Omar Abdullah said the government remains committed to ensuring timely assistance and employment support to families facing hardships, particularly those who have lost their primary breadwinners. He emphasized that compassionate appointments are aimed at providing relief and stability to affected families.

The Chief Minister also urged the newly appointed employees to work sincerely and contribute positively towards efficient public service delivery.

The appointment letters were issued under SRO-43, a provision meant to provide government jobs to the next of kin of employees who die in harness, and under the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme, which seeks to support families in distress through compassionate employment opportunities.
