New Delhi, May 19: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said he would request Bhagwant Mann to make bus travel free for NEET aspirants in Punjab on the day of the re-examination, following complaints from students about financial hardship and mental stress after the cancellation of the exam.
In a video posted on X, Kejriwal said several students had reached out to him after he sought feedback and suggestions regarding the NEET controversy.
He stated that more than 50 lakh people had watched his earlier video and thousands of students had shared concerns about anxiety, depression, and frustration caused by the cancellation of the examination and its rescheduling for June 21.
Addressing the issue of travel expenses, Kejriwal said many students had informed him that they were struggling to afford transportation costs to examination centres.
“Some children have written that they do not have enough money to afford bus fare. I am going to Punjab tomorrow and will speak to Bhagwant Mann so that at least in Punjab, bus travel can be made free for students on the day of the examination,” he said.
Referring to messages from aspirants, Kejriwal said several students had spent years preparing for the medical entrance examination and were finding it difficult to regain motivation after the alleged paper leak controversy.
He urged students not to lose hope and encouraged them to continue their preparation with determination.
“All of you will become doctors. Do not lose courage and prepare well for June 21,” he said.
Kejriwal also claimed that examination paper leaks can be prevented if governments function honestly. He asserted that no incidents of examination paper leaks had occurred during AAP governments in Delhi and Punjab.
