SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage took centre stage at the 77th Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path, New Delhi, through a vibrant tableau showcasing the Union Territory’s traditional arts and craftsmanship.
The display featured engraved samovars, intricately woven Kani shawls, hand-knotted carpets, walnut-wood carvings, colourful papier-mâché, and Pahari miniature paintings, including the renowned Basohli style, highlighting centuries-old artistic traditions and the skill of local artisans.
Saffron blossoms, purple flowers, and crimson elements symbolised the region’s deep-rooted identity, while the melodies of the rabab, santoor, and flute accompanied folk dancers in traditional attire, bringing Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural spirit to life.
