Kathua, J&K: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the construction of 344 residential houses in Kathua district, where hundreds of families were rendered homeless after the recent natural calamity that struck the region.

The housing project aims to rehabilitate affected families with safe and sustainable homes. The 3-bedroom houses will be fully financed by HRDS-India, a non-governmental organization that has partnered with the J&K administration to support rebuilding efforts. The NGO will not only bear the construction costs but also ensure that each home is equipped with modern amenities and essential facilities to improve the quality of life for beneficiaries.

Speaking at the ceremony, LG Sinha appreciated HRDS-India for extending support at a critical time and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of disaster-affected families. “We are determined to rebuild stronger and ensure that every family gets a dignified shelter. This initiative reflects our focus on resilience, development, and compassionate governance,” he said.
