PARIS — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived at the Elysée Palace on Monday for talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, amid intensified diplomatic efforts to shape a potential ceasefire in the nearly four-year war with Russia.
The meeting follows weekend discussions in Florida between Ukrainian officials and U.S. counterparts, which Secretary of State Marco Rubio described as productive. The two sides are working to revise a proposed Washington–Moscow draft peace plan that has faced strong pushback from Kyiv and several European allies for favoring Russian demands.
Macron’s office said his talks with Zelenskyy would focus on ensuring conditions for a “fair and lasting peace.” The original 28-point U.S. framework — limiting Ukraine’s military size, barring NATO membership, and requiring territorial concessions — has since been downplayed by President Donald Trump as an early “concept” still undergoing adjustments.
