Srinagar, Nov 27: National Conference (NC) MP Aga Syed Ruhullah said he was excluded from the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Srinagar — the first such instance since 2002.
Speaking to reporters during a visit to Tulmulla, Ganderbal, where he met locals to discuss administrative issues, Ruhullah said he had come on residents’ invitation to assess concerns that needed to be taken up with authorities.
On reports of him forming a new party, he dismissed the claims, saying he was only disagreeing with the NC leadership over the mandate sought during the 2024 elections. “We promised to fight for the restoration of protections removed with Article 370. After taking votes on that promise, we cannot adopt the BJP’s language,” he said.
Criticising recent bulldozer action in Ganderbal, he questioned the absence of local representatives. “People elect leaders to defend their rights. If there were encroachments, the law could deal with them — but where were our elected representatives?” he asked.
Ruhullah also reiterated his demand for resolving the issue of over-aged aspirants in recruitment exams within a month, warning that he would protest if the matter remained unresolved.
He added that he would continue working on development projects in his constituency, including installing CT scan machines in district hospitals and widening major road stretches.
