SRINAGAR: Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Naseer Ahmad Wani on Wednesday said that schools that forced parents to buy books from private publishers instead of the mandated NCERT textbooks will be required to compensate them. He said action will be taken against those involved in the violation.

Wani told reporters that the complaints raised by parents are being treated seriously and reiterated that no school is allowed to prescribe books outside the approved NCERT curriculum.

Regarding concerns over winter transport and other fees, Wani said these issues fall under the Fee Fixation Committee, where parents can lodge their complaints.

He added that district-level monitoring committees have been set up across Kashmir to ensure schools follow government regulations, and any violation will be dealt with strictly. Winter vacations for pre-primary students have already begun, while holidays for other classes will start from December 1 as scheduled.
