Johannesburg: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced the launch of a new trilateral technology and innovation partnership with Australia and Canada. The declaration came after his meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg.

“We are delighted to announce an Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership today,” Modi said in a social media post following the trilateral meeting.

He added that the initiative is expected to strengthen collaboration among the three democratic nations across three continents, particularly in emerging technologies. The partnership will also focus on diversifying supply chains, advancing clean energy solutions and encouraging the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence.

In separate engagements on Saturday, Modi also met British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

“It was wonderful meeting Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Johannesburg. This year has brought new energy to the India–UK partnership, and we will continue to build momentum across several key areas,” Modi wrote on X.
