Islamabad, October 23: The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has issued a fresh threat to Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, amid growing tensions along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border. In a provocative statement released on social media, the militant outfit dared General Munir to personally visit Kohat and face its fighters on the battlefield, instead of “sending helpless Pakistani soldiers to be killed.”
The latest threat comes at a time of heightened hostilities between Pakistani security forces and TTP militants operating from across the border. The insurgent group accused the Pakistani military of targeting innocent civilians during recent operations in the country’s northwestern tribal districts, a charge Islamabad has consistently denied.
