The health camp, organised by the University Health Centre in collaboration with the DSW and the Block Medical Officer, Hazratbal, focused on women’s health screening, with special emphasis on anaemia and PCOD. A team of medical experts conducted diagnostic tests, evaluated participants, and offered counselling on preventive healthcare and lifestyle management.
Dean, DSW KU, Prof. Pervez Ahmed, said the initiative reflected the University’s commitment to the wellbeing of its community. Coordinator, Health Centre KU, Dr. Khalid Nazir, noted that the camp provided essential medical support and counselling. The camp was managed by Medical Officers Dr. Surayyah Jan and Dr. Azhar Wani, and witnessed active participation from female students and staff.
The three-day yoga event, organised by the Department of Physical Education & Sports (DPES), featured daily practice sessions and awareness activities highlighting the benefits of yoga for physical fitness, mental wellbeing, and holistic health.
As part of its plantation drive, the University’s Landscape Division engaged students and staff in campus-wide tree planting. Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan; Registrar KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal; Dean DSW, Prof. Pervez Ahmed; and other officials participated in the drive, aimed at promoting environmental consciousness and strengthening KU’s sustainability efforts.
At Kupwara Campus, faculty, students, and staff carried out a cleanliness and environmental awareness campaign. Activities included a campus-wide cleanliness drive, poster presentations, and a speech competition on environmental themes. The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony led by Director Kupwara Campus, Prof. Mubashir Hussain Masoodi.
These initiatives formed part of KU’s broader endeavour to integrate health, wellness, and sustainability into campus life under the nationwide Sewa Parv 2025 programme.
