Srinagar, Sept 22: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Monday said that over 1.37 lakh metric tons of fresh fruits have been transported from the Valley in the past ten days via the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, Mughal Road, and railway parcel services.
He said around 1,500–2,000 fruit trucks move daily in rotation, while overall traffic on the highway has risen to 3,500–4,000 vehicles from the earlier 1,500–2,000.
Garg added that the parcel train to Delhi has eased pressure, carrying 800–1,000 tons of fruit daily. On essentials, he assured that petrol, diesel, LPG, and food supplies are sufficient for at least a week and are being replenished regularly.
