SRINAGAR: Shopian Police have sought the cancellation of bail for 13 individuals booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for allegedly violating bail conditions.
Officials said a review of ongoing UAPA cases revealed that several accused had re-engaged in activities threatening public order and security. Surveillance reports indicated some had renewed contact with militant networks or indirectly supported unrest and radicalisation.
A senior police officer said the action underscores the district police’s zero-tolerance policy towards any attempt to revive militancy, stressing that “legal relief cannot be misused to aid unlawful activities.”
