Police Crack Fatal Hit-and-Run Case in Just Two Hours in South Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday solved a fatal hit-and-run case in Kulgam within two hours of the incident.

An 87-year-old man, Abdul Ahad Khanday of Nipora Mirbazar, was fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road at Nipora, Mirbazar. He was rushed to GMC Anantnag, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Acting promptly, police examined CCTV footage and identified the vehicle involved as a white Mahindra Bolero (JK03L-9171). The vehicle was seized soon after.

The driver, identified as 21-year-old Sheikh Burhan Tariq of Qazigund, was arrested. Police said legal proceedings under relevant laws have been initiated.

The investigation is ongoing, and police reiterated their commitment to public safety and upholding the rule of law.
