Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, on Friday attended the valedictory function marking the conclusion of the first phase of the 150th year commemoration of ‘Vande Mataram’.
Speaking at the event, the LG expressed pride over Jammu and Kashmir securing the top rank nationally in overall participation.
“I’m proud that J&K has secured 1st rank nationally in overall participation. Today, more than 20,000 students and citizens participated, showing a strong indication of national pride,” he said.
The large-scale participation of students, youth and citizens, he added, reflected the union territory’s vibrant spirit and deep-rooted sense of patriotism.
Later, in a post on X, LG Sinha highlighted the emotional and historical significance of Vande Mataram during India’s freedom struggle.
“Every Indian heart has an inner song and that is Vande Mataram. During the freedom struggle, when Vande Mataram was sung by someone, other hearts were humming it back. Thus, a strong bond was created which should inspire the young generation today to serve Maa Bharti,” he wrote.
