India has recorded a steady rise in Covid-19 infections, with 358 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, pushing the number of active cases to 6,491, according to data released by the Union Health Ministry. No fatalities were reported during this period.
Gujarat witnessed a sharp spike, logging 158 fresh cases—one of the highest among the states in the last 24 hours. Kerala, however, continues to be the worst-affected state, with its active caseload climbing to 1,957 after seven new cases were reported.
In the national capital, Delhi, the upward trend persisted as 42 new cases were recorded within the same timeframe.
On Monday, India had crossed the 6,000-mark in active cases after registering 378 new infections and six deaths, indicating a growing concern over the virus’s resurgence.
Other states witnessing an increase in active cases include West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Odisha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Bihar.
Meanwhile, no new Covid-19 cases were reported from Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Punjab, and Tripura.
Encouragingly, 624 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 6,861.
