India is witnessing a steady rise in COVID-19 infections across several states, driven largely by sub-lineages of the Omicron variant. While most reported cases remain mild, health authorities are urging continued caution, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and those with comorbidities.

The Union Health Ministry has confirmed an uptick in daily reported cases over the past week, prompting many state governments to increase testing, reintroduce contact tracing protocols, and issue public health advisories.

Kerala Among the Worst Hit
Kerala has emerged as one of the states with the highest case load, reporting 519 active cases as of the latest update. Health officials have also confirmed three COVID-related deaths in the state, underscoring the need for sustained vigilance. The state health department has ramped up testing and urged citizens to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour, particularly in public places and healthcare settings.

Other States Report Clusters
Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Delhi have also seen a rise in daily infections. While hospitalization rates remain low, authorities are closely monitoring the spread and sequencing positive samples to track new variants.
