New Delhi — Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of several tourists. The high-level meeting, which also included Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha and senior officials, was convened to discuss the attack’s aftermath and coordinate efforts to bolster security in the region.

During the briefing, Abdullah provided a detailed report on the incident, including updates on the investigation and steps being taken by local authorities to track down those responsible. The attack, attributed to militants opposing Indian rule in Kashmir, has raised concerns about the security situation in the region.

Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his condolences for the victims and assured that the central government would extend full support to Jammu and Kashmir in its efforts to combat terrorism and restore peace. “The central government is fully committed to supporting J&K in its battle against terrorism and ensuring the security of the region,” Shah stated.

LG Manoj Sinha and other senior officials discussed immediate security measures to be implemented in the wake of the attack, particularly around sensitive areas like Pahalgam and popular tourist destinations.

The terrorist assault has drawn widespread condemnation from both national and international leaders, with many calling for enhanced counterterrorism efforts and closer cooperation between state and central authorities. As investigations proceed, authorities are working to prevent further violence and ensure the safety of both residents and visitors in Jammu and Kashmir.
