Anantnag, May 24: In a continued crackdown against narcotics trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Anantnag on Sunday booked two notorious drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act and shifted them to jails outside the Kashmir Valley.

The accused have been identified as Feroz Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Akingam Achabal, and Mohammad Ashraf Dar, son of Abdul Rahim Dar, a resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara.

According to police officials, Feroz Ahmad Bhat was lodged in District Jail Rajouri, while Mohammad Ashraf Dar was shifted to District Jail Poonch after formal detention orders were executed under the PIT NDPS Act.

Police said both individuals were involved in multiple cases related to drug peddling and narcotics trafficking in the district. Despite repeated legal action and arrests under various sections of the NDPS Act, the duo allegedly continued their involvement in the illegal drug trade, posing a serious threat to society, particularly the youth.
