V. D. Satheesan was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Kerala on Monday at a ceremony held in Thiruvananthapuram. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office to the Congress Legislature Party leader, who took oath in the name of God.

A 20-member Cabinet was also sworn in during the ceremony. Senior Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, attended the event along with Chief Ministers from Congress-ruled states, former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Left leaders and BJP representatives.

Thousands of Congress supporters gathered in the state capital to witness the swearing-in ceremony. In the April 9 Assembly elections for the 140-member House, the Congress-led UDF secured a decisive victory with 102 seats, while the LDF won 35 and the BJP secured three seats.
