Heavy Rains, Snow Forecast for J&K; Authorities Warn of Landslides

Srinagar, Oct 4:The Meteorological Department has predicted a spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall across several districts of Jammu division and moderate to heavy showers in parts of south Kashmir between the evening of October 5 and the afternoon of October 7.According to the advisory, higher reaches of south Kashmir, Pir Panjal Range, and Chenab Valley are likely to witness moderate to heavy snowfall during this period. The wet spell is expected to disrupt normal life, particularly in mountainous and landslide-prone areas.Officials cautioned that the inclement weather could trigger landslides and shooting stones along vulnerable stretches of roads and highways, posing risks to commuters. Travelers have been advised to exercise caution and plan journeys accordingly.
