SRINAGAR: Authorities in Jammu seized and destroyed over 2,700 kilograms of expired frozen fish and chicken during a joint inspection by the Legal Metrology and Food Safety departments on Saturday. Three shopkeepers face cases for violating food safety norms.
The raid follows last week’s rotten-meat scandal in Kashmir, where more than 3,500 kg of adulterated meat was destroyed, heightening public concern.
“Acting on government directives ahead of the festival season, we inspected fish and chicken markets to ensure proper storage, accurate labelling, and MRP compliance for all products, including those brought from outside J&K,” said Manoj Prabhakar, Deputy Controller, LMD Enforcement.
