Srinagar, December 10 — Srinagar Police on Wednesday felicitated Nayeem Gulzar, a specially-abled and emerging cricketer from the Valley, for his exceptional performance at the IDCA 9th T-20 National Cricket Championship for the Deaf, held recently in New Delhi.
Nayeem, who has been steadily gaining recognition in specially-abled cricket circles, showcased an outstanding performance during the national championship. The tournament was organised by the India Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) with support from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and saw participation from teams representing various states across the country.
In a statement, Srinagar Police said the felicitation aimed to acknowledge Nayeem’s dedication, resilience, and sporting excellence despite physical challenges. Officers praised his determination as a source of inspiration for youth in Kashmir, especially those with disabilities striving to carve their niche in sports.
The gesture highlights the increasing recognition of specially-abled athletes in the region and underscores the importance of inclusive sports platforms.
