SRINAGAR: Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, on Monday asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not stay silent in the wake of the deadly Pahalgam attack and would deliver a strong response. Sharma stressed that every word spoken during the special session of the Assembly was under national scrutiny, as the entire country watches closely.
Speaking in the Assembly, Sharma accused Pakistan of trying to perpetuate its narrative through disruptive elements. However, he noted that after 35 years, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have given a resounding answer by standing united, sending a clear message that no external conspiracies can divide them.
Expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy, Sharma said, “My heart aches for the lives lost in Pahalgam. Jammu and Kashmir, often called the ‘heaven on earth,’ is a place where people come to create cherished memories. An attack here shakes the very core of humanity.”
He added, “The entire nation is in mourning. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have raised a collective voice against terrorism. Yet, we have no words to console those who lost their loved ones — like the woman who lost her husband, or the young boy who lost his father.”
Highlighting the gravity of the moment, Sharma said the proceedings of the Assembly were under intense public observation. “Every single word we speak today is being carefully evaluated. We are among those who could not even eat after hearing of the attack; instead, we took to the streets, sending a powerful message that, even after 35 years, we are united and no divisive agenda can succeed.”
