Lucknow –
A 33-year-old engineer from Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district died by suicide after making serious allegations against his wife and her family. In a video message recorded before his death, Mohit Yadav claimed he was being harassed and falsely implicated in legal cases by his wife and in-laws. “If justice is not delivered after my death, let my ashes be thrown in a drain,” he stated in the emotional recording.
Yadav had checked into the Jolly Hotel, located near the Etawah railway station, on Thursday. When he didn’t emerge from his room the next day, hotel staff grew concerned. They later discovered him hanging in the room, confirmed Abhay Nath Tripathi, the City Superintendent of Police.
Originally from Auraiya district, Mohit worked as a field engineer for a cement company. He and his partner, Priya, had been in a relationship for seven years before tying the knot in 2023.
In his final video, Yadav alleged that Priya’s mother forced her to terminate a pregnancy two months ago, shortly after she had taken a private teaching job in Bihar. He also claimed that his mother-in-law had taken custody of all of Priya’s jewelry. Yadav insisted that there was no dowry demand made during their marriage, yet his wife allegedly threatened to file false legal complaints against his entire family.
The police are currently investigating the matter and reviewing the video for further evidence.
