Jammu, April 12: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have conveyed their greetings to the people on the occasion of Baisakhi, which will be celebrated on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
In his message, LG Sinha said Baisakhi is a sacred occasion that allows everyone to express gratitude to the farmers—the nation’s Annadatas—for their relentless efforts and contribution to India’s development.
“Baisakhi carries deep spiritual and historical importance as it commemorates the establishment of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th Sikh Guru. On this holy day, let us commit ourselves to the ideals of courage, equality, unity, and selfless service as demonstrated by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. I hope the festival brings peace, happiness, and prosperity to all,” he said.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also sent warm wishes to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, noting that Baisakhi marks the beginning of the Indian New Year and holds great importance, particularly in northern India.
He highlighted the festival’s link to agriculture, noting that it marks the start of the harvesting season—when farmers begin to see the results of their hard work.
“Baisakhi reflects the joy of reaping the rewards of hard labour and celebrates unity, harmony, and togetherness,” the Chief Minister said.
He added that festivals like Baisakhi play a vital role in strengthening community bonds and fostering peace and mutual respect in society. On this festive occasion, he prayed for the welfare, prosperity, and peace of all residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
