Srinagar, Dec 8: Jammu and Kashmir is set to experience a mix of partly cloudy and generally cloudy conditions over the next two weeks, with light snowfall likely in the higher reaches during two upcoming intervals, according to the latest meteorological forecast.
December 8 will remain partly cloudy across most regions, while December 9 is expected to turn generally cloudy, particularly over the Kashmir Valley.
From December 10 to 12, the weather will again settle into partly cloudy conditions with no major weather activity expected.
A weak western disturbance may affect the region between December 13 and 15, bringing a possibility of light snowfall over a few higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir. The plains, however, are expected to remain dry.
The weather is likely to stay partly cloudy from December 16 to 18, providing stable conditions for most parts of J&K.
Another spell of cloudiness is forecast between December 19 and 21, with a chance of light snowfall over isolated higher altitudes. No significant rainfall or widespread snowfall is predicted for the plains during this period.
The MeT department advises travellers, especially those heading toward mountain passes, to stay updated on weather conditions as higher altitudes may witness slippery surfaces during the forecasted snow spells.
