New Delhi/Moscow, May 5, 2025:
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke via telephone on Monday, reaffirming the deep-rooted strategic partnership between the two nations and expressing solidarity in the fight against terrorism.

President Putin extended his heartfelt condolences over the tragic loss of Indian lives in the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, southern Kashmir, which he described as a “barbaric act.” Both leaders strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and emphasized the importance of coordinated international efforts to combat the menace.

The conversation also underscored the enduring nature of the Russia-India relationship, described by both sides as a “special and privileged strategic partnership.” The leaders noted that bilateral ties continue to strengthen across political, economic, and defense sectors, remaining unaffected by external influences.

Prime Minister Modi conveyed his greetings to President Putin and the Russian people on the upcoming 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. He acknowledged Victory Day as a shared commemoration of courage and sacrifice, and confirmed India’s participation in the Moscow ceremonies.

Modi also reiterated his invitation for President Putin to visit India for the annual bilateral summit. The invitation was warmly accepted, with both leaders looking forward to further high-level engagements in the near future.
