Jammu, April 30: In the aftermath of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, senior police officials on Wednesday reviewed security arrangements at key tourist destinations near Jammu to ensure visitor safety and maintain public confidence.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range, Shridhar Patil, carried out an extensive security review during his visit to Patnitop, Nathatop, and Sanasar—popular hill spots located along the old alignment of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur and Ramban districts. These areas attract thousands of tourists throughout the year.

Accompanied by Ramban Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulbir Singh, officials from the Patnitop Development Authority, the Tourism Department, and other civil administration representatives, DIG Patil assessed the existing security infrastructure at these locations.

As part of the visit, Patil also chaired a detailed interaction with stakeholders, including hoteliers, members of trekking associations, local residents, and former panchayat leaders. The discussion focused on strengthening the current safety measures, addressing concerns of the tourism community, and enhancing coordination among various agencies.

“A comprehensive briefing was given regarding the arrangements in place to ensure public safety and maintain law and order,” a police spokesperson said. “The need for additional measures and greater synergy among all stakeholders was also deliberated upon.”

DIG Patil underscored the importance of creating a secure and welcoming environment for tourists, particularly ahead of the upcoming peak season. He called for improved collaboration between police and civil administration, increased surveillance, and proactive steps to bolster preparedness.

The visit, officials said, reflects the administration’s continued commitment to projecting Patnitop, Nathatop, and Sanasar as safe and attractive destinations for visitors from across the country.
